– Rob Knox
Rob Knox is a longtime resident of Timmins, Ontario, known for his career in public service, business, and community involvement. Originally from Schumacher, he attended Roland Michener Secondary School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Waterloo in 1984 and later studying nursing at Northern College. In 1988, he joined the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and served in communities across Northern Ontario for 2 decades holding several leadership positions. He became the Detachment Commander responsible for the greater area of South Porcupine, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Foleyet and Gogama before retiring from policing in 2008.
After leaving the OPP, Knox moved into business with his wife Linda, operating several Tim Hortons restaurants in Timmins until their retirement in 2025. Alongside his professional work, he has been actively involved in community initiatives, organizations and boards, including supporting local business and charitable efforts and contributing to regional causes such as Camp Bickell. Throughout his career he has been recognized locally not only for his leadership and entrepreneurship but also for his commitment to community service and his involvement in local music and cultural activities.
